Bela Friedman is principal of Bela Friedman Public Relations. She has also held media relations positions for public relations firms in Los Angeles and San Diego.
Bela’s strong commitment to community service has led her to offer her services pro bono to numerous boards and committees. Bela was the recipient of the Healthcare Communicators of San Diego’s Finest Award for her work with the American Lung Association of San Diego’s Buck Tobacco Project.
Throughout her career, Bela has used her communication skills to be an advocate for positive change through her high personal and professional standards and ethics. She is past president of Health Care Communicators (HCC) of San Diego and Health Care Communicators of Oregon (HCO), and serves on the board of the Portland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Barbara Agnew, Senior Account Manager
Barbara Agnew is the former public relations manager for Medical Teams International, (formerly Northwest Medical Teams), a global humanitarian relief agency.
With more than 20 years of experience in healthcare public relations, community relations and non-profit marketing, Barbara is a seasoned communicator and passionate about the clients she serves. An expert in her field, she knows how to capture strategic ideas and issues for clients to create comprehensive public relations plans that deliver tangible results. Her specialties include media relations, writing news releases, bylined articles, business collateral materials, community outreach, speaking/lecture bookings and advocacy efforts.
Barbara is a former board member for the Oregon Donor Program and the Public Relations Society of America’s Columbia River chapter. She’s earned a Bachelor’s degree in journalism/news-editorial emphasis from San Diego State University and a Master’s degree in journalism with a public relations emphasis from the University of Oregon. She is an unabashedly loyal Duck fan.
Nicole Banta, Communications and Social Media Specialist
Nicole Banta has worked in communications in both the not-for-profit and business sectors for nearly ten years. Most recently, she was the communications manager for a local nonprofit focused on youth development. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in communication studies from the University of Oregon and a Master’s degree in public administration with a specialization in nonprofit management from Portland State University.
Prior to graduate school, Nicole worked for a public relations and public affairs agency where she worked with a variety of nonprofit, healthcare and retail clients. She has experience in media relations, social media, web design and development, writing and editing, and marketing. She sits on the board of two nonprofits, TreeSong Nature Awareness & Retreat Center and Portland Tillamook Preschool.
Karen Selsor, Technical Writer
Karen Selsor is an accomplished technical writer and creative content developer. The author of three novels, she creates press releases and ghostwritten articles for placement in local, regional and national media outlets; develops content for Web sites, marketing campaigns, newsletters, and case studies; and researches and develops white papers and technical reports. She also writes copy for brochures, ads, and data sheets. Recent projects include a white paper on emergency notification software, case studies for a consumer research software company, and contributed articles for a financial healthcare firm offering automated loans to hospitals for outstanding patient accounts.
With a Master’s degree in applied psychology, she specializes in healthcare, advocacy, and technology topics. Karen believes that each organization has a unique “voice” that can and should be used in all its written materials to help differentiate the company within its relevant markets.
Shelly Caldwell, Web Developer
Shelly Caldwell is a web developer who’s focus has been on the healthcare and industrial service industries. She offers full design and development services, including custom web design, wire framing and story boarding, intranet development, content management integration and long term website maintenance.
Shelly helps clients develop their online business goals, search engine optimization campaigns, social media strategies and helps them stay up to date with emerging technologies and design trends.
